A Ha Ka Ma
This year my class took on the challenge of creating a music video to enter in the MADE Awards. We loved the song by Anika Moa A Ha Ka Ma, so decided it would be the best choice. It was an amazing project in which we all learnt so much, I am so proud of my class and how they rose to the challenge.
This video had lot of different layers and processes, which created lots of problems to solve. Here is how we did it...
First we used the website bouncyballs.org/ to get the bouncing ball background. We played the song through while recording the screen, we did this a couple of times, playing around with the amount of balls etc. Parts of these recordings were used as the background when we put it into iMovie.

We used a green screen to take lots of fun pictures of the children posing to the song, we used different props to match parts of the song.
We used Keynote for all the animations, but first I had to learn how to do it before teaching the class. I watched a few Utube clips and had a play before coming up with the ball bouncing over the words (this is the only bit of animation I did myself, the rest was the kids). Then I taught a few of my class "experts" how to animate using Keynote and they set about creating all the animations for the verses. They all did an amazing job, I was so impressed when they actually when beyond what I showed them to come up with some cool effects on their own.
Once all the animations were done, it was time to use iMovie to put it all together. This was a huge job and took a lot of effort and time, we made heaps of mistakes, learnt lots of new things. The hardest part was getting the timing right, matching up the song and the keynotes was tricky!
We were all so proud of winning the Y1-3 Music Video category for 2017!
